Editor, Gazette-Journal: According to Wikipedia, gerrymandering is the political manipulation of electoral district boundaries to advantage a party, group, or socioeconomic class. There is some rather obvious word twisting going on regarding the April 21 referendum on redistricting. “Moderate” Spanberger and Democrat state representatives are pushing a special vote with very short notice. They and their ads use terms like “fairness” and “temporary.” They imply that having the districts drawn by politicians is bad, but that is exactly what the referendum provides! Read it! If the referendum passes, districts will be drawn by the current (overwhelmingly Democrat) state politicians. They are gerrymandering.
