Letter: Vote Beattie and Walsh

My family and I moved to Mathews County several years ago to be close to family and friends. We became involved with a number of community organizations and quickly realized the serious challenges our county faces.
The county is burdened with numerous financial and administrative issues such as declining population, economic development, budget shortfalls (How would you spend $600,000 of taxpayer dollars?), failing school facilities, potable water, attainable housing, sewer systems, crumbling historic buildings, sea level rise, flooding, and dredging.
These are huge problems for such a small county. And to address these problems we need a proficient and effective Board of Supervisors. Proficient in skill and competence.
