Letter: Volunteer support to public health is invaluable

The 2019 National Health Care Volunteer Week will be observed April 7-13. At this time, the Three Rivers Health District and Three Rivers Medical Reserve Corps would like to thank our volunteers for all the good work and assistance they provide Three Rivers Health District and its partners to educate, prepare and respond during emergencies. Their support to public health preparedness is invaluable!

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a national organization created to have a system in place to use medical volunteers in a disaster. The Three Rivers MRC is a local unit comprised of residents of the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. Medical professionals and support volunteers are utilized during natural disasters to support shelters, train with localities in emergency preparedness and support public health.
