This is in reference to a letter from Capt. Mark Truscott (“Power of the Press,” Oct. 3 Readers Write). It’s something that most of us have known for a long time—that newspapers are very important to our community, especially the Gazette-Journal, which is a much-looked-forward-to weekly.

I draw your and others attention to the NIE (Newspapers In Education) program that appears periodically in this paper and asks that you add your support for our press.

Lastly, there should be a very big Thank You to the Main Street Committee and many others (volunteers) for all the help with the American flags, flowers, fairs, etc. We are getting better. Reminder: This is National Press Week.
