Letter: Virus will run its course

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I am struck by how sincerely committed some of our neighbors are in their belief for the efficacy of wearing a mask. For some folks to choose not to is in their eyes almost a crime punishable by death.

The Human Rights Watch internet journal notes that “Due to CV-19, media, government and other reports suggest that approximately 580,000 detainees from at least 80 countries have been authorized for release from incarceration … ‘Prisoner releases have been too few and too slow, contributing to preventable suffering and death’” from CV-19, said Jo Becker, an advocate at Human Rights Watch.

My question: If masks are effective at limiting CV-19, why did they let out all those prisoners when they could have just given them all masks?

Some may say the Governor and Dr. Fauci both say we should wear masks and we trust them. But as a scientist I have to ask, really? Just five months ago on Feb. 29 and March 1, both said we didn’t need masks. Now both of thes...
