Letter: Values on display

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Hans Christian Andersen’s story, “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” resembles our current political climate. For fear of looking foolish, the people of the empire pretend to believe they can see invisible fabrics being created by dishonest weavers. To appear loyal, the people play along and deny all reason. Although their eyes could see for themselves, it is not until a child blurts the obvious does the truth penetrate the utter nonsense on full display. This reveals the emperor is unfit to rule and that people are easily deceived.

Like the emperor’s subjects, the American public must determine faact from fiction. However, today half of the people refuse to admit what they should see for themselves. VP Harris played along with the false narrative that President Biden was not in cognitive decline. VP Harris declared the border was secure. VP Harris cast the deciding vote in the Senate on the “inflation reduction” act which accomplished the opposite of what they called it. The current administration’s overspending and printing of money has caused our massive debt and devaluation of our dollar. This is not fiction; this is fact on full display.

We can see videos of Vice President Harris in her own words declaring her values: Ban fracking and straws; Support open borders and sanctuary cities; Mandate a gun buy-back program; Support all abortions as federal law; Price-fixing to fight inflation; Defund police; Reimagine ICE; Government pays for transgender surgeries for prisoners, and Give $25,000 of taxpayer money to illegal migrants to purchase homes.

In effect Sen. Sanders has said she has not changed her values, but she realizes she must appear more moderate just to get elected. To me that translates: once she’s elected, she will govern as she always said she would. It is time to “turn the page” from VP Harris’ values.
