Letter: ‘Unsupported innuendo cannot go unanswered’

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

In his letter to the Editor of the Gazette-Journal of Sept. 15, Jack White makes a number of unsubstantiated allegations describing the record of the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. I hold that office. Mr. White’s use of unsupported innuendo cannot go unanswered.

By implication, Mr. White asserts that I have failed to show leadership in the office to which the citizens of Mathews County have elected me five times, that I am without the energy to hold that office and that I have not, during my 20 years in the office, preserved "our Mathews way of life." The way of life which I have, in Mr. White’s view, failed to preserve, has been mine and my wife’s for 30 years. It is the way of life in which we chose to raise our three daughters.
