Letter: ‘Underhanded politics’ in Mathews

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I believe we’ve got some underhanded politics going on in Mathews County. It should never have come to the Market Days chairman endorsing the incumbent sheriff. I feel it probably helped his opponent, more than it hurt him.

Also, I’m left to wonder why delinquent Mathews business licenses were published at this time. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this has never been done before. Should the business owners have been notified this was going to happen? Is this the complete list of non-paid business fees? The list does include two Mathews candidates for offices. Can we get some answers on these matters before Election Day?
