Letter: Tutors sought for new MHS program

The PTA provides assistance and support for our students in many different activities (After Prom, essay contests, teacher appreciation, scholarships, etc.) and we are always looking for new ways to support our school system. A new goal for the Mathews High School PTA is to establish an organized tutoring club for our students. As parents, we all realize that no two children are alike. One may excel in English, but have more difficulty with math or biology. At a time when colleges are increasingly looking for rigor in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) courses, many parents and students are interested in a little extra one-on-one help. There is a particular need for tutors with proficiency in higher math concepts.
