Letter: Tuesday’s primary is an important one

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I want to urge citizens to join me in voting on Tuesday for Sheriff Darrell Warren in the Republican primary. Most of the time, a primary election has a very low turnout of voters, and most people think it is not that important. But this time is different. If we do not get out on Tuesday and elect Darrell as our Republican candidate, he will not be on the ballot for sheriff in the Nov. 6 general election. He will not continue to be our sheriff! You do not have to be Republican to vote on Tuesday.

I have known Sheriff Warren for over 20 years, and he is a good man and the best-qualified candidate to be our sheriff. He grew up in a law enforcement family and came up through the ranks in Gloucester, rising from a patrol deputy to Chief Deputy, overseeing investigations, law enforcement, administration and training, before becoming sheriff when the elected sheriff stepped down.
