My personal and sincere thanks to the people of Mathews County for their unfailing support for our State Champion volleyball team. It was such a great pleasure for me to see the families and friends of the girls in the stands every game—home or away. Your support pushed them through the season at home and right to the state championship. And a special thanks to Sid Foster for his incomparable cheerleading.

I am especially proud and appreciative of the student body. I can remember many games some years ago where that part of the bleachers was nearly empty. Not anymore! You young people have set the benchmark for classes to come. Between the boys down front and the “Dancing Man” leading the cheers, you have demonstrated true Blue Devil spirit and made an old fan very happy.
