Letter: Transparency?

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I am writing this with regards to our relatively recent terminology where politics is concerned. The term “transparency” has become a sort of byline in the last decade or so.

Now I am understanding some sort of draft discussion regarding the Mathews County Attorney and a six-month extension to our being barred from our board of supervisors’ meetings? This does not pass the “smell test”! In fact, there is a stench!

I have a few questions that I would like to see answered … Why were we billed $7,000 by the County Attorney to have her attempt to stop a lawful recount of our electoral ballots? Why are we figuring into our school budgets to feed the children that are not at school and saying that this was mandated, when it is not? What is stalling the Islander renovation project from getting the needed permits and approval? Why stifle that which is important to everyone? What of some of these federal government contract discussions?
