By now, I am sure you have noticed signs popping up like new spring flowers all over our county. They are generally brightly colored and include names of candidates running for local as well as state offices. The pink signs represent Dr. Bambi Thompson who is running for the Mathews County School Board. I have heard some residents ask, “Who is Bambi?”

Dr. Bambi Thompson is a person who chose to live in Mathews County 23 years ago. She also chose to become a teacher, a public school administrator, and now a retired educator (30 years). She is currently serving as a coach, hired by the Virginia Department of Education, to assist schools that are struggling to meet state testing standards. Her background includes earning many personal and professional awards as the schools she led often earned Title I Distinguished Awards as well as the Governor’s Award for Excellence.

If I was asked to list a few words to describe Bambi, I believe I would say...
