I have read several signs and letters in which the phrase, “It’s Time for a Change” is tossed out with regard to the Treasurer’s race in Gloucester County. I could not disagree more strongly. Tara Thomas has served the citizens of Gloucester County with dedication, efficiency and fairness for 19 years.

She was elected Treasurer in 2000 and has not a single blemish on her service record. Under her leadership, the Treasurer’s office has a real estate tax collection rate in excess of 99 percent and has been accredited annually by the Treasurers’ Association of Virginia since 2003. Most importantly, she supervises the daily work of five deputy treasurers, one collections coordinator and one chief deputy treasurer—a total of seven employees.
