Letter: This is the best BOS we’ve ever had

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

The press got it all wrong. The board of supervisors doesn’t make the budget. This is Brenda Garton’s job. She submitted 13 different scenarios to the BOS. Her recommendation was to cut money to Bay Aging, Bay Transit, the Boys and Girls Club, the fire department, rescue squad and others, but she put in a raise for all county employees. So, she threw the BOS under the bus.

We are blessed to have the best group of people on this board for a long time. All together, the board members get $50,000 a year. County department heads make $75,000 to $120,000 and Ms. Garton makes $155,000. When we put all the talent of this board together—Andy James, Ashley Chriscoe, Mike Winebarger, John Meyer, Phil Bazzani, JJ Orth and Chris Hutson—it far outweighs the entire staff and administration of this county.
