Letter: The folly of privatization

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

 This proposition sounds so familiar to me. Politicians compile statistics to convince the public that it is to their advantage to outsource people in career jobs and turn these jobs over to private contractors. We are led to believe by getting rid of county employees, we eliminate the expense of retirement and employee benefits. After this is done someone still has to pay for employees’ benefits.

 In our organization we often see mechanics and office workers, who will be out in the field driving buses if needed. We have seen storms in our county where our employees were jumping through hoops to return our county to some degree of normality in a few days. Let’s not compare our loyal, dedicated employees with a politician’s fabricated dollar and cents report.
