Letter: The first Market Days

Editor, Gazette-Journal:
Let’s circle up and try to remember the first Market Days, with Mildred P. Hudgins, our county Extension Agent, and her office staff working with Bill and Lil Rau, Barbara Bass and our very active Chamber of Commerce in the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s.
Let’s remember among the first years of Market Days, Mr. C.E. Kline getting us out on Main Street, joining hands, circling up and thus Hands Across Mathews was born. I remember being part of that circle and pledging to help with Hands Across Mathews and, to this day, I do help in my own small way. Do you?
If you would like to help, see us, the Mathews County Democratic Committee circled up on the corner of Main Street in front of Storybound, receiving money for Hands Across Mathews. The MCDC will match all funds received and donate to Hands Across Mathews.
