Editor, Gazette-Journal:
I am in awe of Bernie La Casse. After amassing 160 volunteers, she was able to organize and produce the Christmas Store 2021. This extravaganza helped 632 members of the Mathews community. With boundless energy she worked all three days the store was open, standing and checking her list constantly to check eligibility.
When each shopping day was over, she organized what was left. At the end of the last day, Bernie was still standing and smiling as she with a few others collected what was left to save for next year.
Mathews is fortunate to have the Christmas Store which helps many residents. It could not have been done without Energizer Bunny, Bernie La Casse. Please thank her when you see her.
