Letter: The Blind Heart

The blind heart does beat in the chest of the man,

Who knows not his blessing and can’t understand.

The grace and the mercy throughout all his life,

From the hands with the scars, the hands of the Christ.

He takes all things for granted as if he were owed,

What a miserable journey on this dark, lonely road.

Joy can’t be found, it’s chased off by greed,

Doesn’t see what he’s got for more is always his need.

He doesn’t know pity, compassion or trust,

There’s no love in the heart that’s consumed with great lust.

But Jesus did heal the dark, blind heart of men,

Cured men of hate and He can do it again.

He takes the blind heart though it be like a stone,

And gives it the vision of thanks as He makes it just like His own.

Gratitude comes when we look beyond self,

And see needs of others and put ours on the shelf.

The way that God did though He reigns high above,

He sent His own Son who did suffer in Love.
