Letter: Thankful for a clean community

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Many thanks to all that participated in the road cleanup last Saturday. The eight members of the Mathews Rotary that volunteered their time to the fall cleanup all agreed that the Church Street ditches were the cleanest they had ever encountered in the years that Rotary has cleaned the area.

In addition to the Rotary members, a Mathews High School student, Kristen Fauber, also spent her Saturday morning as a volunteer, helping with the cleanup of Church Street.

Other areas were cleaned by groups or individuals that are members of the Adopt-A-Highway Program which patrols our roadways for trash on a regular basis.

Mathews County residents are to be commended for their concern for our environment and the proper disposal of trash.

If you are interested in being a part of the Adopt-A-Highway Program, please contact the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center (MCVIC) at 725-4229.
