Letter: Take the time to thank a teacher

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Thank you, Mr. Poniatowski. Thank you, Dr. Lee. Thank you, Miss Ghering. Thank you, Mrs. Luscomb.

These “Thank yous” are way overdue; in fact, some of these individuals are probably deceased. Nevertheless, these are the names of a few of my teachers over my lifetime that made a positive impression on me and made a difference in my life.

Each and every school day, effective and engaged teachers are prepared to teach 5-6 hours. This requires much planning and organization as teachers need to know and understand not just their subject but also know and understand how their students learn.

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. I want to express my gratitude to every engaged teacher in our community who, each and every school day, is prepared to provide a culture of learning and instruction the full measure of their classroom time.
