Letter: Support supervisor, school board incumbents

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

During the 17 years I’ve lived in Mathews, and long before that I am sure, the county has elected county supervisors and school board members who have been diligent, practical, and fiscally responsible in the conduct of county and school business. Mathews County has been well-managed, made sensible improvements, and kept taxes under control.

The election next Tuesday will be a watershed moment. We may either continue the pragmatic and problem-oriented approach that has been taken in the past, or vote for the challengers who, if elected, I fear may be occupied by their concerns about their interpretation of the Constitution, the influence of the United Nations upon our country, property rights, and such.

We need county supervisors and school board members who will focus on local issues. Please support the incumbents at this critical time.
