Letter: Supervisors seen micromanaging school board

I believe that in October of 2011, a meeting was held in the Gloucester High School auditorium discussing the pros and cons of construction of a new middle school and/or renovation of the old school. The elected school board members, along with some of the county supervisors and prospective candidates, were in attendance and heard the discussion.

The school board provided a really good discussion on the school and when I left the meeting, I was convinced that the proper program was to build on the new site and use the old site for business offices and a place for school bus storage. That meant that all the traffic for the school would be off U.S. 17, the school could be built such that it could be added to if needed and, in the future, a new high school could be added to the site and it would meet the county’s needs for the future.
