Letter: Stealing history

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

For those of you who recall Dr. Seuss’s “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” there is a similarity between the events unfolding in our world and this childhood tale. The Grinch thought he could stop love by stealing the mere expressions of love, but he discovered he was wrong.

In like manner, there are people in our world who think that if they remove memorial buildings and statues, they can stop people from drawing inspiration from the leaders who guided our country to greatness. But they are wrong. Like the citizens of Whoville, let us join hands and sing, and may those hearts who don’t understand grow three sizes larger.
