Letter: Spelling out their appreciation

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

It not only takes a community to raise a child, it also takes that same community to support nonprofit organizations when it comes to having successful fundraising events.

Adult Literacy on the Middle Peninsula, Inc. thanks Linda Fitchett and her capable staff for allowing ALMP to hold a fundraising spaghetti dinner at Linda’s Diner on Feb. 21. In addition to Linda and her staff, thanks to the many community people who came for dinner and the donations left to support Caleb Selph in his endeavor to participate in the National Adult Spelling Bee in Long Beach, Calif. on March 9. With a portion of the profits donated by Linda’s Diner plus community donations, Caleb is $300 closer to his $1,100 goal.

ALMP has always appreciated the support received from the Mathews community in all our activities from tutoring to fundraising. We spell our appreciation in one word: T-H-A-N-K-S.
