Letter: Smith for Gloucester Treasurer

When voting for a candidate for office, I always look for someone who will add value to the leadership team. This is one of the key reasons why I support Penny Kemp Smith for Gloucester Treasurer.

I am well aware of Penny’s value and sincere work ethic. After graduating Gloucester High School, Penny worked for my family business during the day and attended Christopher Newport at night. During that time, she helped to organize and streamline various areas of operation.

Since that time, she completed a Master’s degree in taxation and became a licensed Certified Public Accountant. With over 25 years of successful executive and managerial experience, Penny currently works as Chief Financial Officer for a retirement community.

Penny brings an opportunity for change, including fresh ideas that will add value and benefit for all Gloucester residents. For example, she advocates paying county and school employees twice monthly. Getting paid twice a month...
