Letter: Sincere appreciation

Communities of color as well as the disadvantaged, continue to be disproportionally affected by the COVID-19 virus. They have more severe cases, more hospitalizations, more fatalities, less access to health care and a lower vaccination rate. As we continue to hear more and more about the devastating effects of COVID-19, especially on communities of color, I would be remiss not to stop and thank all the wonderful people who were responsible for the NAACP COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic held this past weekend at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester.

The staff and volunteers were welcoming, compassionate and efficient. The vaccination process was organized and well managed. The participants were met with warm greetings from Amanda and Johanne and ended with fond reminders to return next month from Angela and Lisa. The outcome resulted in 156 people receiving their first dose of Moderna COVI-19 vaccination. The oldest participant was 94 years of age.
