Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I’d like to call attention to the fact that Mathews Court House is bedecked with beautiful American flags. They look great … new, even! However, the flag near the Confederate memorial is older, tattered … not a good look. Was this done on purpose, to make a statement?

Please urge the board of supervisors to replace this older frayed flag with a bright new one. We need to show respect to all of Mathews fallen. They are a part of our history and are ancestors of many current citizens.
