Letter: She felt the caring spirit

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

As I went to vote on June 13, I had the unfortunate experience of tripping on a speed bump at Lee-Jackson Elementary School. I could not stop myself from falling and landed in the driveway. Immediately a gentleman was beside me asking if I was okay, did I hit my head, or did I need help. After he was satisfied with my reply, he helped me get up. Several young women also came to offer help, and one offered to take me to the school nurse. Debbie Hunley helped me clean up my scraped hands and supplied me with an ice pack.

As often happens in such situations, I did not get the names of the Good Samaritans who helped me, and I am hoping they will see this and realize how thankful I was that they were there. This was another example of the caring spirit of the people of Mathews County.
