Letter: Sharing the love of music

What a treat we had this past Sunday with the Mathews High School Band and members of Thomas Hunter Band taking part in the Concerts by the Bay.

It was delightful listening to Rob Verdi and his SAXsational Concert. His show was amazing and found us singing along to jazz and pop songs that young and old enjoyed. Mr. Verdi shared the history of blues and jazz and played songs on rare saxophones that intrigued everyone.

His love for music and supporting growth in the arts was evident as he included our band students in his concert. The students performed brilliantly under the direction of Mr. Timothy Fary. The concert ended with a standing ovation after the popular Disney hit “Let it Go!” The students did beautifully with Mr. Verdi making it extra special.

A huge thank you goes out to Concerts by the Bay members who treated the students with lunch and gave the parents attending special privileges. Much appreciation goes to Mr. Rob Verdi and our ban...
