Letter: Setting the record straight

I read with interest the article on the Reverend Edwin Lockwood (Gazette-Journal, Dec. 24, 2015). I have known “Eddie” since I was a child in Robbins, North Carolina, where he preached revival services there at Rockhill Friends Church where my parents were pastors.

I would like to correct an error in the article. The Reverend Wilbur Diggs, the founder of Peniel Friends Church, retired in the summer of 1959 and was succeeded by my parents, the Reverends Donald and Georgia Kensler. The Kenslers were the pastors of Peniel Friends Church from 1959 to 1965 when they moved to Ohio to become pastors of the Urbana Friends Church. Reverend Lockwood succeeded the Kenslers as pastor of Peniel in 1965.

I am aware that most people don’t care about this; however, my mother, Georgia Kensler, passed away a couple of years ago and my father, Donald Kensler, passed away in September of this year. The wounds of grief are still raw in our family and it is pain...
