Letter: Setting the record straight

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

This letter is to provide corrections to the article on the Rosenwald School in the July 28 issue of the Gazette-Journal.

The article states “the group already has on hand approximately $60,000 needed for the heating and air conditioning work.” This is not a correct statement. The Foundation had $30,000 in donations that has already been spent on or committed to required rehabilitation work. The Foundation has a $30,000 EPA grant that is dedicated to the installation of HVAC and upgrading of electrical and plumbing, the cost of which is unknown at this time.

The Foundation has targeted the next 30 days to receive cost estimates. Only after the estimates have been received can an actual cost be determined. At that point, the Foundation will determine if the $30,000 EPA grant is sufficient. It is anticipated that additional funds will be needed.
