Letter: Schools are already fully funded

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

About a month ago, the Gazette-Journal ran an article about Kevin Farmer running for the Gloucester Board of Supervisors (“Farmer announces bid for York District board seat,” Page 4A, May 4 issue), and in it Farmer stated that he wanted to fully fund the schools.

I think he is a little confused … the schools are fully funded. In fact, they are going to build a new school bus garage. I would remind people that the high school population has decreased from 2,100 to 1,700 since 2006 and is decreasing about 50 to 60 students a year. The elementary schools are also going down 50-plus students a year.

Maybe he should run for the school board where there are openings for intelligent people to run the school system. I am sure with his concerns he would do a great job.
