Letter: School security

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

While I support gun control, guns will always be available to those who wish to kill—people kill people. Our schools are being targeted and we must insure safety and security. Our president does not inspire confidence in solving this tragic and devastating plight which plagues parents, teachers, and especially our children.

The only thing Biden addresses is gun control. He has not stated he will allocate money to the states to help support safety and security of our schools. Although, he is willing to pay off college student loans!

I, for one, am not aware of the school board and our great law enforcement officers’ course of action to protect our schools in Gloucester County. As a taxpayer and contributor to our law enforcement in our state, I feel we need to have a general idea as to what is and going to be in place for school safety. Are we going to have police officers present, metal detectors, training for teachers and students?

A suggestion, in my humble opinion, would be to look to our veterans. Many have been trained in a manner which could be of value to our schools. Some may even want to volunteer for this service, but that’s another subject.

I think it would be a great service to citizens of this county to have more information which I’ve outlined above. This may be a concern of many and a way of connecting to all who do not have children in school.
