Letter: Rowe for supervisor

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I have known Mike Rowe all of my life. We were born a few months apart and lived as close neighbors in the Diggs area of Mathews. Mike and his sisters, Sue and Ellen, were my first friends.

Mike was the oldest of six children, so he learned as a child to share and care for others. He has always been energetic and began to work at an early age. We graduated from Mathews High School in 1969 and, soon after, Mike and one of my dearest friends, Lynne, were married.

Mike became a building contractor and owned his own business for years.

When our boys were children, Bruce and I would take day trips and short vacations with the Rowes.

Mike has volunteered in many capacities over the years. He ministered at Salem Church in several positions; coached Little League and he still worked in the Lions Club to benefit the community. He has served on the school board and, during his previous terms on the Board of Supervisors, he worked to restore Haven Beach at Diggs. The...
