Thank you, Cindy Gebhart, for your response on Jan. 31 to my Jan. 16 letter regarding the ERA. My comments were based on similar concerns raised by a legislative subcommittee in the “Report of the Task Force on the Effect of Ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment on The Law of Virginia” written in 1974, not “fear mongering.” Since the current legislature wanted it passed on the original merits, I found it noteworthy. This issue will likely come up again next year.
