Editor, Gazette-Journal:
A friend recently said, “I haven’t seen your letters lately” and then added “those two guys really slammed you.” I realized then that it’s important to tell others who want to write letters to the editor but are nervous about it that when there is a subject that is important to you, try to put away the fear that others may slam you.
There will always be some who write letters not about an issue or an elected official, but as an opportunity to berate another writer’s opinion. What a waste of space. Issues that affect all citizens are important and if a reader has factual information to be shared with others, then do so. We all have opinions, but we should respect the rights of others to state theirs.
