Letter: Residents at Riverside CC are not forgotten

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I am a resident of Riverside Mathews Convalescent Center. The week after Mother’s Day was National Nursing Home Week. Richard Miles, our activities director, did a wonderful job of planning activities for the week.

On Monday, I sat next to Ben Richardson and watched him carve a duck and a sleeping swan. On Tuesday, Karyn demonstrated making wreaths and left two of them to be auctioned off among the residents. On Wednesday, Sidney Read demonstrated the craft of wood burning.

On Thursday, Mr. Crawford came from the Mathews Maritime Museum and did a presentation. On Friday, Joe the Magician came and presented a magic show. It was a wonderful week and I am thankful for all the employees here who do more than just take care of us.

Even at my age of 83, I am still learning things. When a person comes to the Riverside Mathews Convalescent Center, they are not forgotten.
