I am writing to urge your readers to re-elect Tara Thomas for Treasurer.

Tara has a finance degree from the College of William and Mary and almost 20 years’ experience as Treasurer of Gloucester County. She understands the functions of the Treasurer’s Office and has performed them well. After her first year on the job, Tara’s collection rate for real estate taxes was in excess of 99 percent! The government requires audits of the Treasurer’s Office each year, and Tara has completed 19 successful audits with no findings.

Tara also knows how her office interacts with the county and the state and works smoothly with them. She is well thought of by other treasurers around the state, and has even served as President or the Treasurers’ Association of Virginia. Tara has kept up-to-date by completing the Master Governmental Treasurer Certification from the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at UVA in 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018....
