Editor, Gazette-Journal:
“The Village Blacksmith” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was one of my favorite poems I learned to recite in high school. Longfellow is certainly one of my favorite all-time authors. There is one person running for the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors who comes to mind when I read this poem, who embodies all of the personal and professional attributes contained within this wonderful piece of literature: hard working, resilient, commitment to community and family, advocate and mentor of students, honesty, integrity, loves God, and loves people—Kevin Smith.
