Letter: Questions transparency of plan’s adoption

The Amplified Bible version of Romans 13:12 says, "The night is far gone and the day is almost here. Let us then drop (fling away) the works and deeds of the darkness and put on the (full) armor of light." The verse is relevant to our Mathews Board of Supervisors.

The Mathews County Comprehensive Plan was first available in three places: Planning & Zoning office in the old courthouse, the library and online. Online version equaled three parts in separate locations. Many residents do not have computer access. The Planning & Zoning office closes at 4:30 p.m. daily and is not handicap accessible and the library would not allow check-out of the one plan.

Residents were not allowed "fair" access to the plan for sufficient study. The new comp plan was passed under disallowed present public comment on Jan. 18, 2011 after having been advertised in the Gazette Journal as a "public" meeting. I expected to be able to speak at ...
