There’s a rumor that Mueller’s investigation is about to end with no evidence that President Trump colluded with the Russians to win the election. The assumption that Putin would help Trump was ridiculous from the beginning. If you were Putin, who would you have preferred as president, Hillary Clinton, who would have continued Obama’s policies of weakening the U.S. and its military, or Donald Trump, who promised to make America great again and rebuild its military?

The Russians were probably spying on and intending to damage both candidates. They probably ignored Trump, believing wrongly (as many people did) that Hillary would win the election and he didn’t stand a chance. They then concentrated on damaging Hillary so she’d be a weak president and not be able to accomplish much.
