I am writing to give Sherry Hamilton a great big thank-you for her articles in the Gazette-Journal concerning the interest that boaters have in coming up Put-In Creek to Mathews Court House.

Mathews County desperately needs economic growth and this is one way to accomplish it. Yes, we can have a dinghy and kayak dock; yes, we have restaurants, banks, ABC store, library with Wi-Fi, hardware store, grocery stores, visitor’s center, massages and acupuncture … all within walking distance, unlike our friends in Onancock. Certainly there are problems along with solutions, but if Mathews County can shore up New Point Comfort Lighthouse, we can overcome the obstacles in order to have access to the downtown court house area for our visiting boaters.

Thank you again, Sherry, for bringing this to the attention of all our citizens.
