Editor, Gazette-Journal: While reading the Public Record in the Gazette Journal, I came across an interesting court case. A man was found guilty of “profane language over public airway,” receiving $216 costs and six months’ jail. Jail time is suspended, but that means that he could do that time if he gets in trouble for something else. Think I’m right there, but I’m not a lawyer. I don’t know if the profane language happened on the phone or maybe a radio station. What befuddles me is how can people post nasty language on their vehicles, either a bumper sticker or commonly (so everyone can see it better!) on the back window. Rolling down public highways for all to see, including children. While taking two of my grand-girls to school one day there was the B-word proudly displayed for me and 9- and 5-year-old grandkids’ displeasure. I’m not advocating jail time, although what’s good for the vocal should seem to fit for the 24/7 crime. I’m not really wanting to see a soccer mom have to pay...
