Letter: President’s actions seen as tyrannical

This paper’s editorial ("Someone Failed" 1/5/2012) about the upcoming Republican primary that will exclude some candidates uses an interesting phrase to chastise former Speaker Gingrich for being upset at being excluded on the ballot. I’m a fairly recently relocated citizen in the Commonwealth and to tell you the truth I’m probably as piqued at the process as is Gingrich. I will not have a complete roster of candidates from which to choose. But I do acknowledge the editor’s point that Mr. Gingrich should have known of the hoops he would have to negotiate and proceeded accordingly.

But speaking of hoops, do the editors have a similar word like slander to describe President Obama’s appointment—without hearings or votes in the U.S. Senate under the law cited in the U.S. Constitution—of three members to the Labor Relations Board and the former Ohioan Mr. Cordray to head a consumer protection agency that was ...
