Letter: Port Haywood P.O. is blooming

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

The summer is going by so fast, that one has hardly a chance to savor it. Some seasonal pleasures need to be noted. For folks who live in lower Mathews, around Port Haywood, there, at the Post Office, are several flower beds which give continuous joy to many residents.

Starting in the earliest spring, daffodils, ajuga, geraniums, eventually segue into an astounding display of cosmos, all volunteers from previous seasons—yellow, tangerine, orange … The caretaker is also the very able Postmistress, Cathy Vrablitz, who knows everyone and everything down here.

She is generous to begin with, but especially with her plants. Now that the flowers are developing their seed pods, Cathy welcomes anyone to pinch some.
