Letter: Permanent flag displays not permitted in cemetery

Regarding the “Confederate flags removed from gravesites” article in the Jan. 17 edition of the Gazette-Journal, there are a couple of items that need comments. Christ Church Cemetery is a private historic cemetery, well-loved and maintained by obeying the rules of the cemetery, “Rules for Kingston Parish Cemeteries, Columbarium and Scatter Gardens.” Under the rule “Grave Decorations—Installation and Removal,” paragraph one states: “No glass containers, artificial flowers nor artificial arrangements are permitted with the exception that an artificial wreath may be displayed between Thanksgiving and Epiphany (January 6). Arrangements, live flowers and potted plants must be removed no later than one month after being placed.”
