Letter: Overwhelming support for Angel Tree

The Gloucester Department of Social Services would like to thank the members of our community for their overwhelming generosity this holiday season, as the Angel Tree Project was a huge success once again.

Thanks to the considerable donations provided, gifts were distributed to not only the foster children in Gloucester County, but also the foster youth in Mathews County.

A special thanks to Bill Hudgins who began this tradition 24 years ago, which now includes several local businesses and community partners: Brad Hudgins of Hudgins GMC, Mitch Dunston and Lynn Onesty of the Abingdon Ruritan Club, Sarah Cook of Walter Reed Hospital, Lynne Freeman of Mainsail Wealth Advisors, Deborah Dickerson of BridgePoint Church, the Gazette-Journal, Ben Lennon of Lennon Dental Center, Chesapeake Bank, Andrews Funeral Home, Stotesberry Construction Company, and Diversified Financial Group.
