Letter: Our future is our children

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I almost missed it. My son showed it to me during our family Christmas Eve gathering. A letter to this newspaper written by individual fourth graders, sharing their favorite Christmas memories. He pointed out the one written by my grandson (his son), Levi Huskey.

Each letter started with: “Christmas is more than toys under a tree.” Obviously, their teacher told them to start the letter with that sentence. Although I question the worth of some things taught in school (ever since I was a kid) and from what I’ve heard some of the curriculum now is even immoral and God has been expelled completely from school grounds (which this country will pay a horrible price for in near future), the teacher who came up with this idea deserves, “Teacher of the year,” for sure!

For most kids, Christmas is about materialism and they are so brainwashed with that, it means little else and it produces adults who worship the dollar and are sad members of the religion of mate...
