Letter: Opposition to U.N. has long history

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I noted, with complete agreement, the letter written by Sue Long ("Get the U.S. out of the U.N.," Sept. 22 issue). Ms. Long and her acknowledgement of the danger posed by the U.N.—a theme that has existed for some time.

This concern has been previously expressed in this area by Captain Robert W. Orrell in his newsletter "Our Country" during the 1960s and ’70s. More recently, (the late) Rep. Jo Ann Davis was likewise a foe of the U.N.

The United Nations is a corrupt and disingenuous organization that poses a direct threat to America’s sovereignty and security. The U.N. has been described as the "Beast on the East River." Its depredations have been thoroughly documented by author Nathan Tabor in a book of the same name.

Ms. Long is but the latest to express opposition to the U.N. She is in good company, as many consider Captain Orrell and Rep. Davis to have been patriots in the truest sense. Yes, get Ameri...
